Sawmill Meadow - A moderate guided hike down the East Fork trailhead. Meet at the Community House at 9am and then drive your own car to the trailhead, about 6 miles from town. The last mile of the drive is moderately rough and high clearance vehicles are recommended.

This moderate hike is a real gem because to get to the trail, you hike the East Fork Trail for a ways. You will pass the Big Ditch Cabin site from 1848 and the Big Ditch with its interpretive sign, including pictures. Then you turn onto the Sawmill Park Trail. The delight of reaching a high mountain meadow, following along Sawmill Creek, and seeing old Bristlecone pine trees are all good reasons for going on this hike. The first section of the Sawmill Park Trail is very narrow and very steep but the views are truly worth the effort!
