Moderate Hike. Guests must drive to the trailhead in the Upper Valley (about 6 miles from the Community House), and the dirt road along the last portion of the drive is a bit rough, so a high clearance vehicle is recommended. This trail has a gradual ascent along the East Fork of the Red River. The flowers along this trail are different than other places and very pretty. There is a nice display of the Big Ditch around 0.8 miles from the beginning of the trail. We will hike up to 3 miles in (or less if needed to keep it around 1 hour in and 1 hour back out) and then turn around and hike back out.

The entire trail would be 5 miles one-way, with 1780 - 2300 ft elevation gain, but we will not go that far as a group. (5 hours)
